Never again Hertz.

I booked online from the US with a set price confirmed. After a 10h long travel I come to pick up my car. They charged me a deposit of 690 euros (not a hold, just a plain purchase on my credit card) which never happened to me before. On top, they charged me 911 euros for a week long rental instead of the 450 euro I had booked my car for (with printed reservation showing price). They told me my reservation forgot to include all sorts of tax: TVA, airport tax and some other fees.

DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM HERTZ!!! We reserved an automatic car from Hertz. First off, this is the slowest rental car counter I have ever experienced. The people who work here need to be trained better. We were told they had no automatic cars and would need to get one from another terminal. After about an hour, they told us they brought a manual. For another hour we stood around waiting for another car which never came. Our agent kept leaving and finally we got so mad we rented a car from Sixt instead. It was $300 cheaper and the experience was much better. Stay away from Hertz.

DOCUMENT THOROUGHLY. If you choose to rent with Hertz, and choose to avoid their at-counter upswell of full insurance coverage for 60 to 80 euros per day, you'll want to go over every inch of the car and document any little scratch you can find. Someone scraped the wheel on a curb? Make sure it's noted.

impossible to contact them on the phone
impossible to modify your reservation
impossible to get an invoice

How can I give zero stars? One is one too many. I look above, and note other people having had their credit cards charged after the fact. Our rental went back in the exact same condition it was collected, it was passed as such by an inspection on its return, then my credit card gets charged an extra $91AUD for no logical or explained reason. Too difficult to follow up from Australia. I'll be talking to my bank about an unauthorised deduction.

Worst car rental agency worldwide. Not only they make people wait like hours, but then they lie to you that there's no problen while charging you card with fake reasons afterwards.

Then my husband called Herz customer service on the spot who told us this is BS, that I had a reservation with the right price, but the local Herz reperesentative who literally seemed to make stuff up on the spot, told us they can’t take any direction from “some random Hertz person on the phone!”

I asked to talk to the manager, and she picked the guy sitting next to him as the manager, who completely made stuff up: “well it can always be other fees that they need to pay for”.

Prepaid for diesel car. Arrived at airport no diesel available ended up with a gasoline car that cost more to drive on my 21 day trip around France.
Bought gas outside of airport and filled the tank. Returned car cleaned but not vacuumed. I was told extra charge for cleaning the car! Strange a brand new car had no floor mats!! I told Hertz I did not pack a vacume or planned on buying one while on vacation. I looked outside and noticed other people wipeing down cars they rented with a towel to clean them.
I asked to see on contract where the extra fee was stated! Then I was told gas receipt was required to show proof of fill up. I was never told the receipt was needed.. I took pictures of entire car and full gas guage showing complete fill up and remaining miles. Finally the attendant said he would take care of it since he saw that I got screwed out of the diesel.NEVER AGAIN with HURTZ..

AVOID!!! Same old tricks at Charles De Gaul airport. A Toyota Avensis has a 60 litre tank. I was supplied my car by Hertz with 3/4 tank (correct on the paperwork.) They charged >100Euro for 48 litres of fuel.
The fact that I returned it half full and owed for only 15-20 litres is a moot point, given the blatant fraud that a little maths shows up.
I complained, and was told that my fuel receipt didn't have a time stamp on it so wasn't acceptable. Have you ever met a receipt with no date and time; of course it had the date and time. I passed the issue (and cost) onto my company's fleet services at this point.
Avoid, or get robbed.

I wish I had read the reviews before booking. So if you come from the US with an already reserved car at a specific price you booked at, you might be up for surprises. Mine was twice the amount I booked for and not what I booked, along with a deposit charged on my credit car of 690 euros.

So with a big smile they told us: “what would you like to do? You don’t want the car?” “No we do but at the price we paid for!” “I’m sorry I can’t. This is the price the car is at”. We were here with our two young children, a 10 hour flight, and what are we supposed dit do?

Worse experience ever! My son left his iPod in the car, tried to contact them within 10minutes of realising it was left in the car. Impossible to get through on phone. No response to emails. Appalling service!

I’ve seen lots of “French” folks coming in and out with no issue, but somehow they see a person living in the US and they do their best to screw them over over. So now I wasted another day with this and no resolution because apparently “you need to resolve this with the local Hertz agency!”.

Was waiting more then one hour to get less equipped car, then was ordered two weeks ago!

Update
1 month later there is a charge on my credit card for 143.00 EU.. For gas. I have to contact hertz corporation and request a refund it is September and they just agree to a refund??
Are you kidding me! 6months later
Anyway I took pictures of the entire car before I took it and when I returned it. The license plate mileage and fuel guage. Seems like over kill but lucky I did!
Good luck with these shady people.

Never ever rent from this location.
1- I had a confirmation email from them and when I gave the man at the counter the confirmation number he said that " I can't find your reservation ".
2- They a smaller car than the one reserved and charged the same price.
3- The car was not full of gasoline. The gage was (6/8) full and the contract said it is full.
4- The car was not clean with a number of dents an scratches.
5- When I returned the car, they charged me €70 for cleaning. Do they expect me to return it polished after a one-month rent.

The car and everything was fine. However, I was told that it would be cheaper to refuell with them than at the petrol station. This was not true, I only had a small car and they charged me £58.33 for half a tank. They said they would email me the receipt/invoice. This never happened.

I failed to do so and so a small, nearly invisible scratch on the bottom of the bumper was priced at 180 euros when I returned the car. I'm sure it was there when I rented the car and I'm sure I'm not the first person to pay for it. My credit card provides coverage so who knows what the final cost will be but for now my rental cost has tripled.

There are agents at Terminal 2 CDG airport who are not looking out for the customer. My experience with David B. was unsatisfactory to the point that I tried to deal with the Hertz "customer service". We arrived earlier that our appointment and, although there were no customers waiting, he would not wait on us until the exact time on out reservation. He then over charged us for insurance and was unclear when questioned.. The Hertz corporate headquarters are not helpful. "You signed it , your problem" is their response. Is this your business model Hertz?

We booked a car that was supposed to fit 3 suitcases in the trunk, the car could barely fit a medium size bag and my children had to keep our hand luggages on their lap. On top, they gave us a car completely scratched with half of the dents marked on the paper. We tried to have that revised, but after 10 hours of flight and now a three hours unsuccessful fight at the counter to get the car at the price we rented, we are unsure.

Hertz chas an incredible poor service, I have been trying to contact Hertz in Paris Orly and CDG for 2 hours now, they don't even respond the phone.
Never again
