It is with great reluctance that I post this rating. 2 yrs ago we came to Poitou Charentes in France from the Tarn. We have an HSBC account in the UK and before that all my family historically from the 19th century banked with the banks that were taken over by HSBC. I tried twice to get my account transferred from the Tarn to Angouleme. The 2nd time I was interrogated at length by a smart woman who did not even have the grace to introduce herself. She asked me the most private of questions. It took all of 1 hour. I felt quite humiliated. We are just ordinary account holders. Then I waited for the transfer of the account followed by telephone contact. As you can see we are still waiting after over a year. Technically it does not matter in this age of computers. I certainly do not want to be transferred now. We will hobble along! What I would appreciate is an apology. And who was that woman? Lessons must be learnt from that admirable bank First Direct, HSBC UK.
