While both my wife and I love wine - we aren't scholars either - so were keen to learn more. We went to the Loire Valley two weeks ago - without any knowledge of the area other than some brief research. Colin picked us up and we spent the entire day with him - going to multiple vineyards, asking questions, laughing, and enjoying a lovely lunch outside at this adorable cafe. Aside from tasting some spectacular wines ( I think we bought 14 cases) Colin was so knowledgeable about the wines and was great at answering our questions. He's the nicest guy and you couldn't have a more down to earth guide. The small tours make the experience all the better.

I am a WSET Level Four Diploma student and I was looking to cut to the chase and get not only an overview of the Loire (Touraine, Chinon, Vouvray, etc.) but also a bit of an insider's take. I signed up for a two day tour with Loire Valley Wine Tours, knowing little more than what the website and Trip Advisor told me... I paid my down payment and had fingers crossed! And there was no need, this was a wonderful overview of the Touraine, Colin was a terrific and informative guide - we visited 8 wineries (including two co-ops) - and I met and chatted with most of the winemaker owners, tasted an abundance and diversity of area wines, had a close up view of a co-op's working traditional method sparkling wine 'factory,' visited a chateau with my own private tour guide (Colin) and ended the two day tour with a much greater understanding and appreciation of the region - and this wine tour is not just for wine students like me, but is perfect for anyone wanting to dig a little deeper into the Loire Valley, learn about its lovely wines and do it with a terrific guide. Plus, they facilitate shipping!
