Wonderful, magical, historic, amazing and stunning! Definitely a place worth visiting and seeing. Best way is to spend a day here and stay for the night in order to see it in daylight and in the sunset/dark all lit up. Only downside maybe is that inside the island they have turned the main street into "attraction park" style by having it full of souvenir shops that are hanging their products outside too. But if you wonder further on there are other parts which are still quiet and without any shops. Abbey is must see from inside, best done with an audioguide.

Great place to visit need to be in good shape to get to the top. Steep incline meant I didn't manage it with my ankle injury. Still, Great place lots of shops which for some reason I didn't expect it to still be a working town. Long ride back on a horse and cart. Added to the fun.... and the chill it was April.

This was a pretty cool place to visit. We spent the night on the island and that was by far the best part. It gets much quieter and calmer when all the crowds leave and it was fun to explore the island at night. I would recommend a flash light even though the major paths are lit, not all are.

Highly impressive piece of medieval history set in beautiful surroundings. Interesting to architecture buffs, history geeks, and lovers of all things beautiful. Would recommend going straight to the abbey for a tour when you arrive to avoid the tourist-traps/kitsch souvenir shops at the entrance of the fort.

One of the most visited places in France. We went in October a during a weekday, so we had some schools groups with us...but is was quite calm compared to what I heard from visits in the summer holidays. Well worth to visit the whole place and the abbey as well. As for the audio guide. Very interesting and historical place. Even on a rainy day
