Superb introduction to World War 1.
Starting in 1870, this museum does a wonderful job of introducing people to the background and effects of the war; both at home and at the fronts.

Visited the end of May 2015. Wonderful museum with a fabulous collection of items. Particularly enjoyed the items relating to everyday life in the trenches. The layout in the open space was well thought out and moved visitors easily through the exhibits. Glad I made the trip to Meaux!

Superbly done!! An impressive collection of historic artifacts surrounding the Great War. It was very apparent that a lot of thought went into how to present the story of the war along side of the artifacts that reside in this great collection. They have a superb display of mechanized vehicles such as trucks and air planes as well a Renault FT, many of which are only seen in old black and white war films of the times. There is even a Parisian taxi that shuttled troops to the front in September, 1914. Another impressive part of the collection was the uniforms from many of the different military's that participated in the war from around the world. Not to spoil it to the reader, this is a well put together collection and definitely worth the visit. While there, take some time to visit the old town center of Meaux with its medieval rampart walls that surround the Cathedral there.
