If you love history, archeology and a superb view then this is the place to go visit. A wonderful trip into the past. The ruins of the castle (castrum) and the village homes are amazing to see. This site is classified as a historical monument and rightly so. It was inhabited between the 12th and 15th century and the 29 ancient ruins of homes situated in the cliff side just underneath the castle ruins are a testament to that. Numerous artifacts were uncovered during two excavations in 1961 and 1968. The Chapelle Saint-Jean is dated at 1860 and the fantastic view from the oratory and statue of Mary and Baby Jesus will leave you breathless. It's free to go and see everything and there is a marvelous hike that will take you there, should you choose to go that route. Alternately, If you wish to not hike it, then there is a parking area with only a 5 or 10 minute walk. This is a place that should not be missed. It's a great way to see what rural life in Provence was like.

Vue imprenable sur Rougiers depuis les ruines du Castrum Saint Jean. Une table d'orientation se trouve à quelques mètres sous le promontoire.
La vue du roc depuis le parking ou de la route départementale en bas du village offre une autre perspective intéressante.
