Horrible experience here. It was so important to my mom to connect with our religion during our travels abroad. We approached the entrance on Shabbos and were shooed away by the man at reception. Many other individuals were entering with no difficulties. There was a communication barrier, but he repeatedly stated that the synagogue is closed (definitely not true) and only available to families. We were so puzzled and remained outside to ask a very kind woman why we couldn't enter our own religious landmark. She was just as puzzled. A minute or two later, security came outside and told us we needed to leave the property. I'm honestly in such disbelief that an experience like this happened. The employees should truly be ashamed of themselves for actions like this, especially to visitors from so far away who were excited to connect with our religion in a new city. I wanted to share this experience so that other Jewish individuals don't waste their time in this city, and I hope the next synagogues we visit will more than make up for this one.
