Beautiful city, worth the visit. Every Sunday there is a food market. You can find good quality of local farmers products.

I was expecting some history from Annecy, France, or even the castle itself. But inside the castle you will find exhibitions from a whole different matter. DO NOT expect seeing velvet curtains or some middle age torturing room. I was surprised by seeing some Chinese animation history stuff (contemporary) and a tiny aquarium. Most of doors are closed, you are allowed just in some rooms of the castle. The visit is worth it just because the beautiful castle shell.

Slightly disappointed with this. The chateau is basically an empty shell, used for art exhibitions, sea life exhibits, etc. I was hoping their would be more period interiors.

We went expecting an old chateau but found a mishmash of a museum. Very disappointed.

Outstanding views over Lyon. Amazing church. Catch the funicular up.

This is a crazy museum visit more than a castle visit. You do see plenty of the castle in the process, but it's an odd heavily-modified castle (13-1800's) and hence is weird and inconsistent, rather than a classic medieval or fairytale castle. The museum's odd and rambling - castle and local history, very old documents and wax seals and locks, old furniture and tools and weapons, old art of the local area, an exhibition of castle architecture drawings, some sculpture, and then... a contemporary art gallery over several levels, which at the time of our visit had an exhibition of animators' drawings (we narrowly missed the Annecy animation festival) and various modern sculpture/installation pieces, in the incongruous castle tower setting. Finally, there is a separate (but included-in-ticket) museum building of local ecosystems (complete with aquarium), fishing/hunting, info on the lake and agricultural history. It's all worth a visit if you're in Annecy and have time - allow 3hrs to see it all - but nearby Montrottier is more of a typical castle.

Very interesting place. Lots to see but there are lots of internal stairs so you might want to call ahead or do a bit of research if you are thinking of going

Interesting displays and a beautiful castle with some great views of the town and surroundings. And reasonably priced. Definitely a good visit if you're heading off to Annecy!

Lots to look at, plenty of nooks to explore with spectacular views (and a worthy pano shot to be had at the loos). Also randomly a small aquarium. It may not be the grandest but it was a varied exploratory way to kill an hourish.

Beautiful from outside but nothing to do with a castle when you get inside!
The place is transformed into an exhibition centre for modern art. Personally, I would prefer more Medieval exhibits.
