This is the oldest Catholic Church in Paris. It is in need of repair, but is beautiful when the interior lights are light. They have many concerts there, some for free and some for which a ticket is required. We went to a concert that included a soprano, contralto, two violins, a cello, and keyboard. It was wonderful. Right in a small part next to the abbey, sitting quietly and out in the open public, is a statue crafted by Picasso.

This is the oldest church in Paris. It's central location and open door make for a convenient and quick look through, so it's worthwhile, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it as there are other churches in Paris that are much more beautiful (Saint Chapelle, Saint Sèverin, Saint Eustache, etc.)

The Église de Saint-Germain-des-Prés is one of the oldest church in Paris and the area of Saint-Germain derived its name from this abbey. Beneath the tower built in the 11th-century lies the remains of the Merovingian kings. No, not the French-speaking Merovingian program from the Matrix. It was the dynasty that ruled all of Gaul in the 5th and 6th century.
