We made a reservation with Enterprise several weeks ahead of our trip. At the time of reserving we were told that we had to pay in travelers cheques, given a specific amount and that this was the only payment accepted. We double checked that policy even after getting the reservation confirmation which also stated this ON the reservation. Drove 3 hours through New England snow to find the one place that still issues travelers cheques in the state. When we arrived, we were told that they did not accept travelers cheques! Even when we showed them the confirmation, they acknowledged that it said that but refused them anyway. Calls to their customer service line as well as the Enterprise corporate offices were of no help at all. Finally, they charged the car rental to my non-driving daughters debit card which they had earlier also refused. However, they put a hold on her card of over $2000 for a $432 dollar rental which is also not their written policy ($150 deposit over the cost of the rental is their policy.

This left us with no money for the week spent there, travelers cheques are not accepted anyway on the island, even the banks. We spent three days trying to arrange to convert the $500 travelers cheques to a wire transfer. Filed a claim with the corporate office. They were also unable to reach the Guadeloupe rental desk (number comes up as invalid number) and had no response from the area manager from Guadeloupe.

Still not resolved. Enterprise corporate offered us a free 3-day rental in the US. I will never use this company again and highly recommend that anyone traveling to Guadeloupe avoid Enterprise.

Enterprise did do an excellent job of ruining our vacation...
