We took one of the guided tours boats from la Rochelle. Cost 12€ pp and took 2h. There are several different companies with a wide pricing range. So spend half an hour checking with the different stalls in the habour
Boat trip was nice and had prerecorded English guiding along the French.

The boat stayed 15 min circling the fort .. so you could get that photo you came for..

Loved this show as a kid! Shame you can't go on to the fort nowadays but loved the boat tour!!
