Overall the restaurant was great, food and wine absolutely delicious. However we had a reservation at 8pm. We walked in at 8:04pm and were told off for being late, then felt the waitress's stress at others being late which meant we had to wait for service whilst she left stressy answerphone messages to other latecomers. Service got better throughout the course of the evening and the food was absolutely delicious. Really worth the price for starter & main. Would definitely recommend.

Great tipical Bordeaux bistro well managed and well priced. Food is above expectation and staffed with no non-sense experienced locals.
Highly recommended for adults with behaved kids as the space is limited.

Superb food, superb atmosphere. Really genuine restaurant. We were lucky to get a table without a reservation and we had a meal to remember! Don't miss the Valronha dessert!

Relaxed dining with very friendly service. A small menu that still encompasses a wide selection of French classics.

Blown away. I was a little worried as a vegetarian but they gladly made me a delicious veggie version of the set menu. Excellent food, good wine, great service: It's literally the most perfect and satisfying meal I've had in a long time.

The owner are very nice, though the place could be very busy and the service can be affected. Beside that, the food was absolutely great. The dishes were beautiful and very tasty. The veal entrecote was delicious. I found the deserts nothing special, even if good. Definitely a very good place for your stay in Bordeaux

Very good restaurant, good service and very nice atmosphere. Very popular, too, so reservations recommended.

Great food and wine with friendly casual style service. We really enjoyed our evening there. The tuna starter was amazing. The monkfish was delicious and my partner's steak was one of the best she has ever tasted. If your French is not the best, don't worry they speak good English and are happy to translate the menu for you.

We stayed in Bordeaux three days and went to all great restaurants that were from recommendations. This was hands down the very best of them. It was fully booked ten days forward but we went at the opening anyway and the waiter accepted to serve us on an outside table (on a somewhat chilly night). The cuisine is hearty yet sophisticated, we had the escargots cooked in a meat sauce and the veal, perfectly cooked and just fatty enough, and very generous as well. Desserts were balanced and interesting and original, not too sweet, one was a chocolate mousse - very light - with sliced figs, the other a macaron with pears. With a suitable wine selection (had all local wines that paired very well). If we'd stay another day in town we would go back tomorrow... I fear we won't be able to top this meal in the second half of our trip... An amazing dinner! Friendly staff too.

This was recommended to us from our Bordeaux wine trails tour guide and what a recommendation! It's a small spot just off a busy street, and the two of us got the last table available (many were reserved so I suggest making reservations especially if your party is larger than two)! The menu was completely in French but the two waiters helped us translate and were more than courteous. My boyfriend said his steak was the best he ever had. My fish was delicious and creative. Our scallop appetizer was creative and full of flavor (with avocado, toast, and great seasonings). And our cheesecake was a great end to the meal. We left extremely full and happy for such a good experience.
Warning, the tables are VERY close together. Not a problem for us but could be for some. The people next to us spoke English and were very kind as they saw us trying to use Google translate to understand what was going on with the menu.
Merci a Le Bouchon Bordelais!
