Pas de chance, moi et ma compagne avions réservé pour le week end du 4 juin, week end des crues. La maîtresse de maison ne prévient même pas de ce qui se passe et c'est avant de partir qu'on apprend par internet que l'eau monte, que la zone est en vigilance orange et que la fondation monet est fermée. Mais c'est vrai que l'on ne vient pas à Giverny pour monet (ce qu'elle nous dit au téléphone). On appelle pour proposer de reporter avec un dédommagement (vue la situation exceptionnelle). Rien à faire, la propriétaire s'énerve, s'emporte, et est insultante. "Oui notre jardin est inondé mais vous êtes au premier étage""Tant pis pour vous c'est réglé" Et oui c'était un cadeau de 130 euros qu'on nous avait fait. Heureusement que c'est une chambre d'hôte et pas un hôtel. Elle ne nous auraient jamais parlé comme elle l'a fait si cela n'avait pas été payé. Elle est malhonnête et c'est du vol.

We had a delightful stay at Le Moulin des Chennevières. The old watermill works, after Mr. Guillemard's restoration. He is a former mechanic, with a collection of antique trucks and tractors. Mr. and Mrs. Guillemard are welcoming and friendly. Not only do you get a comfortable night in the beautiful village, but you also get access to their own gardens, which are serenely peaceful after the crowds at Monet's garden and house. If you have time and inclination they have bicycles that they will lend you to tour the town. The rooms are clean and nicely appointed. Baths are often separate from the room, but each room seems to have it's own bathroom for exclusive use. The breakfast has a cornucopia of fresh baked goods, juices, yogurts, fruits, coffee and more. Mrs. Guillemard speaks English.

We regularly stay at the Moulin des Chenneviers and wouldn't even consider anywhere else in Giverny. The rooms are clean and comfortable, in several price points, and the property is beautiful and well manicured. Most of all, the proprietors, Stephanie and Gerard, are most accommodated get. And friendly.

Beautiful setting and grounds with a charming, idiosyncratic twist. Very friendly, hospitable hosts. Excellent cuisine. Extremely convienient for Monet's garden. We shall definitely return!
