Market days are Wednesdays and Sundays. And just behind the main square (SE), there is a small tea house that we enjoyed very much. Its easy to recognize because of the purple chairs. On market days from 9:00, they serve a "petit déjeuner" which includes a large coffee, orange juice, and some small pastries for €5. This is once of the best deals you can find in the area.

Martel is in the center of the Lot, and is a good base for seeing other attractions. There are enough restaurants, festivals, and activities to keep you entertained for a couple evenings or it could be good for a day trip. It's a medieval city and very scenic. Only the bakeries here were disappointing - seemed more like a heavy country style than the refined pastries you find in the cities. Not good.

You can find free internet at the tourist office or behind the bakery at the media/library building.

Beautiful Middle Ages town, very well preserved and with charming inhabitants. Worth a visit. Good local food.
