It's an OK visit for the ticket price, but I'm grateful that I didn't visit Bayeux just for this one museum.

Great, famous historical tapestry. Visit includes an audio guide which you'll need to interpret the thing as there are no written descriptions. Oddly, even though people came in one at a time and all using audioguides (which autoplay and don't stop), I was slightly out of sync with people near me and often had people standing in front of me. Do the different language guides go at a slightly different pace? It could have just been that those people were slow or poor listeners, of course.

Came here the day after visiting the battle grounds of Hastings as our son had learnt all about this period of history in school and wanted to see the tapestry. You take an audio tour with headsets in multiple languages which explain the different elements of the tapestry. This should keep people moving at about the same pace, but either some of the languages take longer than others or people just stop and look so you end up having some commentary that is not relevant to the piece you are looking at. regardless this is an impressive piece of artwork and history. Lots of information on how it was created and where its been and some general information about the battle and living in that period in a museum at the end.

Small museum focusing on the bayeux tapestry. Very informative regarding the conquest of England by William the conqueror.

Very interesting museum, but some of the staff have a very civil servant like attitude.

The audio guide for the tapestry felt rushed, and you couldn't pause it! Since they didn't organize the people going in, this led to the formations of large groups of people in front of the tapestry, and sometimes you couldn't get to see the scene that the audio guide was talking about.

This is a first-class museum with the famous Bayeux Tapestry under glass for public viewing. If you are interested in English/French history in the era of the Norman invasion, you will want to spend at least a half-day here. There are other interesting exhibits on the upper floors including boats, armor, weapons, and models of settlements.

Amazing to experience this historical tapestry. The movie on the top floor cycles between English and French is a must in understanding the background of the tapestry. Be aware that the audio tour that is included in admission plays straight through only once. No backing up. The middle floor has some great models of boats and structures of the time period.

Amazing to see the Tapestry and that the colours are still so vibrant. The accompanying audio commentary was, I felt, not allowing much time for pauses or reflection on the many scenes portrayed in the Tapestry. Nevertheless, an amazing experience, recommended.

The contents of the guide itself were pretty good; and the museum upstairs has very interesting information about what happened after the events told in the tapestry.

It's worth it! Audio guide well-organized, queue gets moving quickly enough, very informative, gift shop well maintained. And I had no idea the tapestry was that long. It's about 70 metres long! Not joking! The tapestry tells the story about William of Normandy coming to England and claiming power and killing the saxons. You get an audio-controller from the personnel, and it tells you the story. Recommended!

We were there in December 2016. I felt that the museum was totally worth 9€ --which included the audioguide. It was not busy when we were there so we went back and forth and listened to the guide a couple times. It would be boring for very young children, but the explicit gore in the battle scenes would captivate most of the kids I know. It makes ancient history feel like something very intimate.
