The tea room has reopened and we tried it. They were out of many of the menu items, at least the first three we wanted. Finally, we ordered soup and a dessert. After the soup the waiter came up and asked what else we wanted. We repeated the dessert order for cake and coffee, and 30 minutes later, he was nowhere to be found and no dessert. We asked a woman, who was very surprised. Went to pay at the register, and the person there, possibly in charge was "surprised", but we paid for the soup and left. I've never seen anything so poorly organized, but I suppose it's early days.

WHSmith is the best English language book shop in Paris. It's woodsy atmosphere feels so cosy, you just feel like browsing and you can look not only through books for all ages and on a wide range of subjects, but magazines and newspapers, cards, souvenirs, dvds and food. There's also a new teashop upstairs. And if the weather is nice, you can read under a tree across the street in the Tuileries garden.

Here at English Dream Cake we love W.H.Smith!
Very lovely staff and you can find the best books and more.

We would even love to work with them some day.

Very helpful even if you call ahead to determine whether they have in stock the books you're seeking

Good bookshop with helpful attendants and some great deals! It's not a huge bookstore but it's got most of the books that you'd find advertised everywhere. It has a set of regulars and I can't say it's crowded but it does get a bit populated at times. This is probably owing to its being the only bookstore in that lane. It's efficient and convenient and you'll most likely find what you're looking for or at least something good to read.

The best book store in Paris for new books. Shakespeare and friends is more down to earth and has used books however. Wh smith also has Reece's pieces candy cups!! Love those.

Where to go for wide-selection of English-language books, great children's section, now and again interesting sales tables. English tea room? Nice and quiet but over-priced rather uninspired food. Go for the tea, not lunch

A great book store, with a very nice tea house!

It's wonderful to browse through the great selection of books and international magazines, although they are overpriced. Even with the 5% discount offered with their loyalty card, it is still expensive in euros. And so is the new Twinings tea room upstairs. An Earl Grey tea for 7 euros? Not worth it, especially as it's not even served in proper English porcelain tea cups. They're plastic and the whole place has an air of an American diner trying to look elegant. The decor also appears 'bare.' It lacks warmth. But the staff is warm and friendly.

The weakest Parisian librarie anglophone for two reasons: the ridiculous prices and the dated selection. Galignani up the street offers for instance Vintage editions at 11 or 12 euros, here it's 19. New releases here are in fact months old. Shakespeare and Co, even if you can't move between the tourists, gives you a more diverse selection and again, lower prices. It feels like getting robbed when book buying should be a pleasure.

Get all your main English magazines here as well as books. There is a kids and teenagers books section on the 1st floor as well as a small grocery with English products.
