friendly and welcoming camp site. on arrival we were able to select our own pitch which was lovely. we were shortly made welcome by the site manager Nigel and given all relevant information.

Beautiful but small campsite. Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely walks nearby, watch the otters play by the stream of you're lucky. Highly recommended as a stopover if traveling to the south of France

The campsite is in a nice location, with the Boutonne river on one side, and a green lane on the other. Very rural France, so quiet and good to recharge your batteries. However, the campsite, we felt, was badly run, and outdated in parts. The "Accueil" was rarely opened, and at times, hard to locate the owners. The shower block was old, the showers small, with loose shelves to try to put your shower gel on. Old shower curtains-who still has those? The push button for the shower lasted approx 10 seconds. Daily bread delivery is no longer available, and WiFi-though it does not say it is free, it doesn't say it is chargeable on their website, is expensive. The charge is for one appliance only-and is not transferable. Again a first for us on campsites in France.
The restaurant could be a goldmine-the best building on the campsite, but again, on the evening we used it, was badly run. The owner dealt with the bar, and with approx 80 covers, was writing everyone's drinks on a tab, instead of taking the money at the time of sale, so at the end of the night, the queue was long! The meal that evening was just one choice, we were told it started at 7pm, so we were there on time waiting. Finally got our meal about 8pm, but some people didn't get served until after 9pm. The service was provided by the owner's son, and a young lad who was staying on the campsite. He worked like a Trojan, and without him, goodness knows when everyone would have been served. And if you thought you could finish your meal with a coffee after the profiteroles, forget it.
Will we go back, not unless there is a change in management!

An oasis in idilic French countryside. Ideal stop over if travelling through France to Spain as we were. Very nice resturant, owners and staff very helpful and they do a takeaway!!! Restrooms and showers very clean. All in all a fab stay albeit very short. Will defo recommend to others. Thank you Suzan and MAtthew

On meeting the owners Stuart and Sara we were impressed as how warm and welcoming they were making us feel right at home. the site is beautifully appointed and quiet. the local village of Chef Boutonne offered all the facilites we required and we also found the local folk very friendly.

Superb English owned and run camping and caravanning site with mobile homes to rent in a very quiet rural part of France. Chef Boutonne town is under a mile away which has a market square, a couple of bars, 2 supermarkets and a number of bakers and a butchers. There is a beautiful chateau and lake close by. On the site there is a pool and bar/ restaurant serving lovely, reasonably priced meals and drinks. We have been holidaying here for years and cannot recommend the site highly enough.

This camp site is just one of the best we have found. Really friendly, family atmosphere which the kids love. Great pool and bar area and lovely food. We keep coming back!
