I couldn't believe the reviews either, but the reality bears out what others have said. Patrick, the owner, is simply the best we have ever encountered.

We have eaten at several Michelin star restaurants and my wife is studying culinary at a top school. She knew Patrick knew his way around the kitchen when she saw his stove.

But I have to say, the reason to stay with Patrick is the dinner he serves. Make sure to reserve for dinner when you make the reservations -- we suggest you reserve for every night you are there!

Beautifully decorated rooms, and generous sized too. Very comfortable. Patrick speaks excellent English which makes life easier for the linguistically challenged amongst us. And book a table for supper. Awesome food from Patrick & Eric - up there with some of the best fine dining experienced I've had. And they're the loveliest hosts to boot. Can't recommend highly enough.

Everyone who comes here once makes it a point to return. That's the greatest compliment I can give Patrick. So, carpe diem!

A wonderful place to stay!! Massangis is a tiny hamlet in Burgundy, but the Carpe Diem makes it a must visit locale. My wife and I with our two adult children stayed two nights, and it was one of the high lights of our visit to France. Patrick and Eric are gracious hosts with a charming home that will make you want to stay longer then you have booked. First class accommodations with modern conveniences in an warm 18th century stone building. Wonderful breakfasts, and be sure so have at least one dinner with them, if not more. Fine French dining at its best! It may be off the beaten tourist track, but the Carpe Diem is reason enough alone to visit. Close to Vezelay, Auxerre, Chablis, and chateaus, but you will find no better place anywhere near to stay. We can't say enough good about it. Highly recommended!

Quite frankly I don't think you can touch this one when it comes to ambiance, authentic, and wonderful hosts Patrick & Eric. Rooms are well appointed with all the conveniences. Breakfasts prepared by the hosts are just outstanding. And if you want dinner, you get what you pay for. These guys will prepare a meal better than most any fine restaurant we ate out during our three weeks in France. The space was the site of an old farmhouse and stable completely renovated. Lovely courtyard, private parking behind gated entrance. Well worth the price of admission.

There is no WI-FI, but Patrick generously offered to hook us up to his dial-up connection to check our email. There's no TV, but why would you want it? There's plenty to do with visits to nearby chateaus, wine tasting in the Chablis area, and don't miss the charming medieval town of Noyer, less than 10 kilometers away.

What sets Patrick apart is his attention to detail. Of course the rooms are spotless. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, furnished with beautiful antiques.

We were blown away. He started out by serving us an aperitif, then we moved to an appetizer, the main course, a cheese course, and finally dessert. He paired the perfect wine with each course, which were all done to a standard well above what one expects at the typical Chambre d'Hote table.
