Firefly Marseille is cheating in order to sell insurance. I didn't want an insurance from the, as I already had one. But then they told me that the limit on my credit card was insufficient, so I had to buy another insurance from them, to cover the own risk. Otherwise I would not get the car (which I had already paid for in advance). Back from holiday I found out, that they had deliberately mistyped the expiry date of my credit card (even twice, as I had asked them to try again!) which is why my credit card was not accepted.

I rented a car here in July and the spineless French twerp who dealt with the return was called JEAN PAUL - Great face for the company Firefly.

When booking the car at Firefly I informed them that I would pick it up at 22:30. I landed at marseille 22:15, rushed to firefly and get there before 22:30. I was met by an attendant that complained about clients coming that late. I was asked for my credit card info as a warrant (850 euros). I have now returned the car two days ago, the 850 euros have still not been returned to my account (that is on the top of the location fee that was prepaid). I have been calling Firefly 5 times since yesterday, nobody answers the phone. I don't think much of Firefly, such a bad first impression for visitors!.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
POOR SERVICE. LONG QUEUES. RUDE STAFF. CHAOTIC.
WILL TRY BY ANY MEANS TO SELL YOU THEIR EXTRA INSURANCE REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU HAVE PURCHASED IT ELSEWHERE OR NOT.
ABSOLUTELY SHAMELESS... ABYSMAL START TO A HOLIDAY.

DO NOT USE FIREFLY FOR CAR RENTALS AT MARSEILLE AIRPORT!!!
A fairly new car was provided and damage marked on the rental documents but on return the representative and identified a small mark on the body work close to a cross on the condition report and insisted that it had been incurred during our rental. He was both rude and unhelpful and gave us the option of withholding the deposit or charging for the damage. It is the last time I will ever consider using Firefly.

I have written several complaints but they remain 100% unresponsive. Like a pickpocket they stole money from my credit card and now are unreachable. My advice: NEVER rent a car with Firefly because they are crooks!

As for Car del Mar: I strongly suggest to look for another 'broker' because they refuse (in a very inpolite way) to intermediate or intervene in conflicts their customers have with their fraudulent partners.

I booked through Holiday Autos and the only positive is that they are cheap. But here's the negative:
On arrival, they ask you to take a ticket. It tells you how long you'll have to wait - mine was 40mins. It actually took about 30mins to be seen - but even that is ridiculous.
However, more importantly, you have to join the same queue on returning the car...
I walked into the office and had at least 6 customers ahead of me. I was with a group of 6 people and we all needed to get to our flight.
I politely asked if I could just leave my key on the desk and was met with agression.
I speak French, so I said I really didn't care for the tone and that it was their problem that their system was so inefficient and i wasn't prepared to miss my flight for them. I then left my key on the counter and turned to walk out.
The woman behind the counter immediately became incredibly angry, told me everyone was in the same boat and started yelling and waving her arms around. I just kept on walking. She chased after me and carried on the hysteria. All in front of my colleagues and the other people in the queue. Not sure what would have happened if I'd risen to her anger, but I just walked away.
We've all heard about bad service in France, this is the pinnacle. Watch out.

We rented a car via Car del Mar with Firefly on Marseille Marignane airport. When we arrived at the pick up point, we were asked by the staff members (who barely spoke English) if we wanted an additional insurance. We clearly declined since we already had a full coverage insurance with the broker (Car del Mar). After we returned home, to my big surprise, €126 was taken from my credit card and specified on the invoice as 'full coverage insurance'. Despite us fiercely declining on additional insurances they DID charge it.

Flight detaial provided, car rental closed upon arrival. Nobody to help. Hertz itself says nothing they can do. No call to us. Closing time was before flight arrival. We had a delay and noone waited. Booking this car should have never been possible at this agency.

The problem is Firefly are a division of Hertz - Hertz say they are a separate standalone company and I'm sure they are but they have no customer service, so if something goes wrong - you have no recourse. For example you can't phone them and they don't print an address on any of their rental agreements, so you have to phone Hertz customer service. They do have an email address but complaints often go ignored.

I returned the car before the agreed time on contract and he said he would need to charge me for a full day at 125 euros as it was late. When I challenged this, he said he couldn't do anything about it as the computer said I had to pay. I asked him if he was a computer and he said "Yes". I said "Say I'm a computer then" and he said "I am a computer". The situation was patently so ridiculous. When I got home I complained to the European Car Rental Reconcilation Service (ECRRS) and they ruled in my favour, the money was refunded.

We rented our car for a 7 days trip through the south of France. We indicated to give it back at 16h00 on our last day. However, we only managed to arrive at the airport at 21h00. The man at the counter told us that usually we have to pay the full day extra, as we exceeded our rental time, but he makes an exception as there is usually a lot of traffic on the streets and we "only" exceeded by 5 hours. So we did not have to pay the additional 55 euros. So nice, such an awesome customer service ! Maybe also because I said that I knew that it was our mistake, anyways it was really really nice of him! Just be aware that extra charges are written in the contract for exceeding the rental time, so don't take it for granted that there might not be fees !

Never use them is my advice, I only did because it was late notice and they were the only ones with cars available. I won't again.
