I’ve been teaching at Paris College of Art for 15 years, in the Foundation year and in the Design Communication degree program. This semester we launched a “Personal Project” option for first-year students in which they have the entire semester to develop a project on a given theme. The theme we chose is “Animal and Language”, and I’ve been amazed to see what the students come up with, in a variety of media and taking very different approaches to the theme! They’ve conducted research, produced videos, performance pieces, jewelry, a range of intelligent, creative and exciting projects that I will be very proud to see exhibited to the public at our End of Year Show on May 16th. As a faculty member it is hugely rewarding to see a student’s progress from the beginning of the semester, when concepts are still unclear and the task seems daunting, to the end of the semester when students have found their voice and taken full and successful ownership of the project. I love it!

Pros: International school environment(in one of the most sketchy areas of Paris), some very passionate and kind teachers(even though some of them might be under-paid).

I transfered to Paris College of Art in 2012 to the communication design department, after graduating as an interior and product designer. So far I have only positive things to say about the school, one of the most interesting things about the school is that most of the faculty are professionals in their field and not only teaching without practical experience. The students are encourged to be very creative and conceptual and the school's community is very diverse and international. I am graduating this may and it has been a great experience to be part of Paris Collage of Art community.

Love this place! Steve was the best tour guide here. You should ask him about his insta game though. Boy is something else on the gram. Ask for him at the door, he’ll hook you up.

There are some really nice people at the school who helped me out a lot in my transition into moving to Paris. However, the school over all I found to be very disorganized and the facilities were not well managed. For example, it was very difficult to find the intern schedule for the photo lab which was the only time students could use it. When I finally found a time when an intern was there, the printers seemed to be always out of ink. Computer labs were often filled so I was unable to do work there. The library looks like the school moved to the building a week ago but I believe they have been there for a year or two and it took me 5 attempts to get my student ID. Their saving grace is that there are some really wonderful teachers and good people who truly want to help the students. I also had a great opportunity as a exchange student to show my work in a gallery in Paris.

Cons: Ok this school should really be your last option for art school. You pay about 25000 euros a year (even more, excluding housing) but absolutely don't get what your money worths. The school is super broke even though it charges the students a lot. No art supplies for students is provided. School computers and printers break down everyday which force the students go to printing shops to have their files printed. There's no proper study areas for students in the school building (and PCA actually shares the building with a business school which has only 3 classrooms and all the students are Asians who don't speak English or French very well). Some departments apparently hire whoever they can find to teach the classes even though these people have 0 teaching experience before. Classes can be cancelled randomly by the teachers and some of them are constantly late to class. If you don't have to pay much for it or if you are just an exchange student who wants to enjoy Paris, PCA could work. But if you seriously want to invest 4 years of your life here for a BA degree, I don't recommend it.
