A really unnecessary and upsetting experience.

Our party (Mother & 3 year old child) arrived from Dublin in late Aug and after departing the plane from the 2nd row transited through the prefabricated buildings (part of the reconstruction I believe) and arrived outside the airport 'building' past security. There were no signs indicating to passengers that the luggage would be left in the prefab, there were no carousels. it seemed like a corridor so they kept walking and realized that they were past security without their luggage. The security guard refused re-access despite showing the bag tags. When we we went to information a lady arrived and told us simply to wait outside and endorsed the security guard's stance. This meant waiting in 30 degrees heat in the Sun in a car park with no updates. Eventually we returned to the information desk to find the lady manager having coffee with her colleagues without a care in the world. She refused to engage with us at the desk an told us to wait outside again until further notice.

Flew in ....waited 2 hours for fuel ant then was made to go to the other end of the airport with a 1hour wait to pay landing fee ! Not good

At Perpignan-Rivesaltes airport I rented a VW Polo from Europecar to tour around sightseeing in Carcassonne, Colombieres-Sur-Orb & Thuir.

I prefer small airports - parking, access and the check-in and security process are always so much easier. However, the café was limited and overpriced and the departure lounge was bare and dull - just rows of seats and blank walls. Top marks, though, to the friendliest security check staff at any airport I've used.

Nice little airport. Everything goes through quickly. No messing about.

Overall impression: bureaucratic, regional, under-developed airport with horrible staff.

After 45 waiting in the sun we returned again to the information desk upset and eventually a senior manager came outside with us to the security guard - allowed us to collect our bags which at this stage were in the sign-free prefab.
