Not only did fat guy in the counter acted like he was doing us a favor by giving us the overpriced drinks we paid for, he was extremely rude more than once. Terrible service, terrible attitude. Shame for destroying the hospitality Irish pubs are known for. There are plenty of pubs, Irish or not, in the old part of Lyon that are happy to get our euros and will not be utter ass holes. Will not return and I do not recommend.

I love this place. It has a really good atmosphere, an awesome happy hour, and great tunes. Highly recommend this place!

Terrible !! This bar falls in the stereotype of the French bar, where the bartender has an ego bigger than the eiffel tower and doesn't even make the effort to be nice. I spent few months in Japan and came to Lyon to study. The difference is just shocking. I asked the waitress if they had a hot tea (it was -5 degrees outside) and she explained to me that they stop hot drinks at 6pm. Her colleague, the bartender yelled at her that she didn't have to explain herself and she just had to say that they didn't have hot drinks. It is sad to see that people still go to these places while still being treated like sh*t.
On the positive side beers are cheap in happy hour (4 euros for a pint between 17h and 21h), and they have plenty of choice - in case you can stand the mood of the employees
I hope i'll find better places in town...

Beer was standard in price and quality, bar was disordered and understaffed

Friendly English-speaking staff, great ambience, comfortable interior and good music. Proper beer. Highly recommend for wi-fi and beer thirsty travellers.

Atmosphere was cavernous and crowded.

Decent bar with pub atmosphere. During non-happy hour times the beverages can be on the pricier side. Downstairs has a pool/billiards table and there is a dart board upstairs. Staff is attentive, and speak english and french.

Well priced pub. Toilets need some work.

Cities the world over have Irish pubs, but even by those standards Vieux Lyon has an extraodinary concentration, patronised by expats, visitors and Lyonnais alike. Home-from-home St-James is one of the best. It opens until 1. Happy hour from 17:00 to 21:00.

Was a great atmosphere. I can't wait to go again when I return to Lyon

Barman was rude, when I commented on his manners he responded "well you know where the door is!"

awful service, the bartenders are very rude and act like you make them a service buying a beer from there.

Was brought here by a friend from Lyon, and we were served by a guy from Latvia with a thick British accent lol. He was awesome and gave us some great recommendations. We didn't know each other's names so he would fondly refer to me as "Canada" and I'd call him "Latvia."

This pub is an insult to the Irish.
