A fascinating glimpse into the history of France.

Their information guide says that the average visit lasts 1hr 15 minutes, but I'd recommend giving yourself more time, especially if you plan on doing an audio tour. Entry is free for 18 - 25 year olds (they will ask for ID), €9.00 for everyone else.

Came here for my birthday. Absolutely in heaven seeing the the Royal Necropolis - especially the Bourbon crypt under the nave. Wish I could come and visit more often.

When the cathedrals of Paris and France can become simply "look inside and out we go" the basilica St Denis pulls you in and bids you "stay and visit our royalty, good or bad they made us the country we are today...pay homage to them and our history." Fascinating history as it regards architecture. First ever stain glass "Rose" window (thanks to Abbot Suger). This is not only a do not miss sight for tourists, it is a find me and you will be overwhelmed!

The first Gothic Cathedral! It is beautiful inside and out and well worth a longer ride on the Metro from the center of Paris.

This splendid basilica contains half of all the french kings burials ever.

This magnificent basilica is off-the-beaten path in Paris for tourists, but it justifies all the invested time and effort. It is the crowning place of the French queens, the royal necropolis and the structure that introduced the Gothic style in the Middle Years. It boasts great stained-glass windows, items used in crowning ceremonies and the marvelous funerary art collection.

Takes about 20 minutes to get there on the Metro from central Paris.
