This is truly a hidden gem. While not quite as grand as Versailles it is in many ways far more enjoyable to visit. I found Versailles too crowded where here was a comfortable, quiet and relaxed place that wasn't too crowded. Highly recommended.

My family and I came here to see the Chateau and picnic at the park. It was a very nice museum that was just small enough for us to whip through quickly, but still see some excellent art pieces. It was in an isolated, peaceful place, and it was such a pleasure to sit by the pond and watch the ducks and swans. We definitely recommend coming here just to enjoy the pond with a snack or meal. This is certainly a place to visit if you're staying in Paris.

Fantastic day out. Full of interesting history. The grounds are very well kept with beautiful lake full of carp. The day we went had a reninactment which was wonderful. Everyone taking part had fabulous outfits all to very high standards.

Picturesque place for walking in the park. Huge territory with a beautiful palace and swans! I enjoyed it a lot. If you have an extra day in Paris take an all-day day public transport pass for 17 euro and travel unlimited in the ile de france

Magical and grand testament to the excesses of the French royal family. You can understand why there was a revolution... To think this location played second fiddle to Versailles - definitely underrated but that's fine as you can get around easily and it represents good value for money. The sorbet from the stall in the courtyard on the northern side of the chateau (facing the gardens) is to die for.

Beautiful castle and grounds. I would recommend the audio tour as it added a lot of context to the building and rooms. There is no food on site but there are restaurants outside of the gates. We parked in the paid parking lot across the street and it was easy. We spent about 90 min on the main part tour but did not do one of the extra sections. There is a nice park and gardens behind the castle that you could have a picnic at when the weather is nice.

A truly remarkable French landmark. We decided to go here after reading reviews on how crowded Versailles can be and don't regret our decision one bit. We walked the grounds of the castle, walked through the wonderful downtown area where we grabbed lunch, and strolled through the woods. The weather was very nice the day we went and there were plenty of locals out and about.
