This WAS a great wine outlet, but unfortunately, it's now closed. The company has other shops, the nearest one is in Reims, which I'll be visiting soon. So be aware that several shopping websites are still showing this shop as still being open for business, but it's not ...
The appeal for me is that this family run chain does not just sell any old wine as cheaply as possible. If that's what you want, there are plenty of other stores in Calais that do that. No, the unique selling point for La Grande Boutique du Vin (or "Perardel", to some) is that they offer quality wines at reasonable prices. Shopping here, you won't save much on a bottle of wine, but the wine you do get will be loads better quality than you'll find in Tesco or Asda ...
