The sheer scale of the crater and the fact that it is man made, and out of a single explosion really hammers home the violence of the trenches. The volunteers that look after the place have done an excellent job maintaining it.

Very interesting to walk round the crater and imagine what it would have looked like a hundred years ago. Thank you to the Friends of Lochnagar for preserving such a historic and interesting place.
