We loved our visit to Rochforte. It is rightly described as the Versailles of the maritime world and that is spot on. Every turn opens up more stunning architectural vistas. Delghtful little city with plenty to see and do. So glad we made the effort to visit. It's hard to imagine that the place was raised to the ground when the Germans left after WW2 and to see how it has been rebuilt is an inspiration. The marina basins are full of history and feel much like a film set from a bonnet drama. The city also has some very good but reasonably priced resturants and bars. If you are looking for a culture fix this city hits the spot.
