Nice Gothic cathedral

There are many other things to look on the complex exterior, including a finely carved portal and a rhinoceros gargoyle!

Notable interior features include the stained glass (the western rose window dates to 1210), panels dating from the 13th century, a Serbian icon of the Holy Face, and an 18th-century choir grille.

This Cathedral stands out from the others in France and is definitely worth a visit. The animal sculptures are fascinating as are all the other little details. My tip would be to bring binoculars to see the things that are very high up.

The cathedral of Laon has six towers, four of which are complete. The towers and uniquely ornate, lightand airy. Statues of oxen decorate the top of the façade towers, a tribute to the animals that provided so much labor towards the construction of the church.

Se la gioca senza soggezione con la molto più nota cattedrale di Reims. Se non per le dimensioni, sicuramente per la qualità complessiva, davvero invidiabile. All'ufficio del turismo in parte si può ottenere l'eccellente audioguida che accompagna alla scoperta di tutti i dettagli che fanno di questa chiesa una testimonianza straordinaria. Da visitare assolutamente, e con almeno un'ora di tempo a disposizione! Anche il resto della cittadina merita una visita, ma questa ha qualcosa in più.
