The museum cost 5€ and is well worth it. There are audio tour devices in English and I would grab them for the museum.
The museum is full of the history of the city from ancient to present and you will learn something new in each exhibit.
The only drawback we saw is that the layout is slightly confusing but it is not bad enough to deter a recommendation.

Huge Museum with a great and collectiom from ancient times until now. The objects are presented in a fine way and accompanied by historical maps and explanations.
Most is also in English, some even in Italian and German.
And in the garden there are the ruins of the old Greek and Roman port, gate,....

Chronogically set up, a very modern museum with exceptional displays from the oldest city in France. If you have one museum to see in Marseille, it is this one.

If you have one museum to see in Marseilles, just visit this one. You won't regret it, and you will understand better France's oldest city.

Friendly and helpful staff; information and audio in English. Well worth the visit - the history around death practices over the ages was particularly compelling.

Although the layout was strange at the start, you quickly fall in love with it. Chronologically set up, it is a very modern museum with impressive displays.

Everything is in French so make sure you take a translator if you don't understand French.
