Brilliant

I had the great pleasure of staying here the last week of June. Riders Rest is aptly named, it’s not a hotel, not quite a standard B&B either. If you are not a biker you are probably looking at the wrong place, if you are a biker you ARE looking at the right place.

I personally only stayed two nights, I would have been very happy to stay far longer.

Supérb! I really can't praise this spot highly enough. Great location, fantastic roads and to top it all off hotel standard food and accommodation provided by the genuinely warm and welcoming Mandy and Rob. My only fear is it may become too popular and I won't be able to get booked in again!

Now, the roads. The riding in the area is stunning, every type of surface and shape is there. Whatever your bike type you’ll be catered for and Rob knows the best routes and is on hand to give advice and jump on his bike and come with also - if you want. If you’d rather do you own thing that’s fine with him also, he’ll wave you off and be genuinely interested in where you’ve been and how the ride was when he greets you on your return. (I think the man can hear a bike from 10 miles, that or he stands outside all day to ensure you are greeted when riding in…!!!)

After the meal all retire to the club house, where beer, darts, cards, ride planning and banter carry on for as long as you want into the night.

There are other frills there that I didn’t personally use, due to time or weather, they looked great. A big garden, a pool and a BBQ being some I spotted.

The facilities important to bikers are all there, a safe, dry and secure place to park your bike overnight. Breakfast and an evening meal also of course, but that’s easy really, lots of places could do that. What Riders Rest has that makes it unique are Rob and Mandy, your hosts.

They care about your stay. Mandy prepares a hearty breakfast and I had two evening meals that were delicious also. They, and all guests, sit around a giant table and you’ll quickly forget that you are a paying customer, you become their guests dining with their friends and of course you all have a common interest to get the evening started.

Recommended without hesitation.
